Alder Creek Kayak and Canoe has been in business since 1986, when Steve and Cindy began offering top-notch instruction and gear out of their garage on the Sandy River near Mt. Hood, Oregon. Family and friends would stop by, gear up, and hike down the trail to the Sandy for an afternoon spent learning the art of paddling. As business grew beyond expectations, Steve and Cindy moved shop to Tomahawk Island in Portland, where Alder Creek's flagship store continues business today. Alder Creek expanded its operations to Central Oregon in 2000 with the help of Bend store manager Geoff Frank. In 2002 Alder Creek Bend moved from its original Century Drive location to its present waterfront location just off Colorado Avenue in Bend. Our stores are stocked with a complete line of quality gear for touring and whitewater paddlers. Year-round we offer instruction to all levels of advancing paddlers. We also offer local and regional canoeing, touring, and whitewater trips with an emphasis on safety and fun. Our waterfront locations in Bend and Portland enable us to provide paddling outside our back doors. Allow us to share our knowledge to help you learn and experience the joys of paddling. We work in a paddle shop because we love to paddle and appreciate the fine products available to paddlers. Through clinics, classes, and personal experience, we keep abreast of the latest paddling issues and techniques. This involvement relates directly to understanding equipment and customers, in turn allowing us to better serve you.
